A Note About Email
Email is a fantastic invention but too much of it makes it hard to get work done. These days I am overwhelmed by the amount of email I get and am not able to answer every message. I very much appreciate people's interest in my work and in my opinions, but please take into account the following before sending me a message:
- I unfortunately don't have the bandwidth to comment on manuscripts (papers or books) from people I don't know.
- I'm not able to provide blurbs for books by people I don't know.
- A lot of people send me email expressing their ideas about some aspect of AI or complex systems and asking for comments. For the most part I don't have the bandwidth to answer these messages.
- I'm not able to endorse arXiv submissions from people I don't know, unless the submission is very closely related to my current work.
- I'm sorry about the above points, and about the fact that I leave many messages unanswered. To anyone who doesn't receive a reply from me, I'm sorry! But it's the only way I can manage to get my own work done.
- My institution, the Santa Fe Institute, does not grant degrees or have a graduate program, so I am not able to advise Masters or PhD students.
- All of my papers are available here. I'm not able to provide pdfs of my books.
